Handthrown Crocks
Handcrafted from white European clay, our Handthrown Pottery Collection is created by European artisans on an original potter’s wheel. The ceramic pots are inspired from antique olive jars collected from classic 19th century Italian kitchens, and are available in 3 sizes: small, medium and large.
The raw clay is left untouched on the bottom, while the top half is dipped in a warm, white glaze. Each container features a clay seal on each side and sturdy handles for the perfect mix of traditional design and contemporary style. Because each vessel is made by hand, small variances can be seen and help authenticate the artisanal nature of the product.
These stoneware jars have endless possibilities and can easily move from room to room. Our favorite uses are for holding battered wooden spoons and spatulas near the stove or fresh flowers and potted herbs near the sink.
From beginning to end, each piece requires approximately 35 hours of work. During the process, our handthrown pottery and bakeware are fired twice in a precision-controlled electric kiln. Crazing will typically occur during the first fire. This is a desired effect to enhance the individuality of each piece. Crazing does not affect the quality or durability of the item.
